Danai-Rae Matthews of Lydney in the Forest of Dean produced a wonderful quilt of a horse's head, called Horse of Many Colours, which has won 2 prizes in 2015.
She loves horses and used an appliqued horse pattern by BJ designs. This was mirror imaged having chosen all the coloured fabrics herself. She fabric painted all the border horses and pieced the border with a jelly roll.
This quilt won first prize in the under 16s category at Quilts UK in Malvern in May. In August it was awarded a Highly Commended in the Young Quilter/Embroiderer category at the Festival of Quilts.
