Every year at the Quilters Guild AGM there is a Young Quilters (YQ) challenge. A previous winner was Darci Reeve from Gloucestershire and at the 2017 AGM, held in Torquay, Izzy Wheeler from Somerset won first prize in her age group. She a member of the Region 5 YQ group and is very keen on working with textiles. Having won second prize in the Quilters Guild AGM Challenge in 2016, she was even more delighted to have won first prize in 2017. Izzy is now aged 12 & has been sewing since she can remember. The theme of the 2017 challenge was Moor To Sea. She says, "My Mum took me down to Dartmoor to do some landscape sketching on the moor, around the coast and halfway between the two. Back at home, I researched what wildlife would be found in each location. Then I made a sketch of each block putting the two ideas together. I used a quilt-as-you-go method after being shown at Midsomer Quilting"
