Two Region 5 quilters enter My First Quilt at FoQ

Adele's quilt above and Liese's below

The My First Quilt category at the Festival  of Quilts is for complete beginners and must be completed in the last 2 years and not been exhibited anywhere else.

Adele Berkin from Bristol entered "You had me at Merlot!"  Her intention in making this quilt was to learn piecing and applique and to teach herself machine quilting.  She adored the fabric and fell in love with fancy piecing, especially the mid-century ladies and the phrase "you hade me at Merlot": a perfect introduction to quilting

Liese Rumbold from Gloucester gave her quilt the title "Japanese Pinwheels".  She recalls she has loves cranes since hand feeding baby birds at Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands centre and this drew her to this Japanese fabric.  She thanked the support of Frampton on Severn WI patchwork group.  She adds "I am now hooked on quilting!"
