Quirky Quilters wins Highly Commended award at Fesitval of Quilts

Quirky Quilters with 32 members are based in Stoke cum Hamdon in South Somerset and this year were delighted to win a Highly Commended in the Group Quilts at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in August. Their quilt was called Postcards from Somerset

Techniques.  Applique, traditional blocks, embroidery, hand quilting, painting.

Materials.  Cotton fabrics, decorative threads, magnets to open postcards

Our Somerset, reflecting its diversity in scenes on two-sided postcards.  Traditional industries and related quilt blocks representing willow, Cheddar, cider, glove making, helicopters, fields, crops, the levels down to the sea. Spot an unusual lighthouse, steam trains, historic houses, Roman mosaics and rain at the Glastonbury Fesitval

The same quilt won a Judges Merit at the Malvern Quilt Show in 2014
