Pat Train - accredited quilt judge

Pat Train - with her certificate

Region 5 are saddened to hear of the death in May 2017 of Pat Train after a short illness.  Below is the news item about her becoming an accredited quilt judge in 2014 and in 2016 she was head of the Quilting Judges team at the Festival of Quilts.

Pat Train a member of Highnam Quilters (near Gloucester) has been studying for the last 2 years to become a quilt judge.  She received her certificate of qualification on April 13th 2014 at the QGBI AGM in Portsmouth.  The training is offered by the Quilters Guild of the British Isles and this recent course was led by Annette Morgan and Jenni Dobson.  It included a number of international students.  Pat says that she thoroughly enjoyed the course, which was mostly studied as a distance learner and consisted of 6 Modules.  It involved quite a lot of research into various aspects of quilts and quilting.  She added "I have learned a lot; this course really made me think about quilts and my responses to them - why I like some and not others, why some designs work and some don't"
