Liz Brooke Ward has another winning quilt at FoQ

Wild Arum

Liz Brooke Ward won a second highly commended award in the Pictorial Quilts category at the Festival of Quilts 2016.  Liz says "I'm fascinated by this strange rather spooky wild plant, its curious names and the rather sinister way it starts to grow in Spring.  The synthetics (the piece is made using these and cotton velvet) help give it an eerie feel, especially in artificial light".

The techniques of applique and free machine quilting were used in the making of this quilt.  Liz has been invited to have an exhibition at Nature in Art gallery and museum at Twigworth - located north of Gloucester - in 2017
